Proqio at WTC and RETC 2025: What We Learned From the Tunneling Industry
A recap of Proqio’s participation at WTC and RETC 2025: two of the tunneling industry’s most important events, highlighting key trends, conversations, and how tunnel teams are embracing real-time, unified data platforms.

Being part of the global tunneling conversation means listening actively, engaging in meaningful discussions, and sharing the work we’re doing to help move the industry forward. That’s why the Proqio team traveled to two major events in 2025: the World Tunnel Congress (WTC) in Stockholm and the Rapid Excavation and Tunneling Conference (RETC) in Dallas.
We heard firsthand what engineers and project managers need and demonstrated how our tools can support better decision-making in complex infrastructure environments. Events like WTC and RETC keep us connected to real project challenges and how we can make tunnel monitoring simpler, smarter, and safer.
WTC 2025 – Stockholm
WTC 2025 brought together more than 3,000 tunneling professionals from over 80 countries under the theme “Tunnelling into a Sustainable Future.” The focus was clear: how underground infrastructure can support more resilient, livable cities.
Attending in person gave us the chance to connect directly with engineers, project managers, and designers from around the world. From experienced professionals to early-career engineers, the diversity of insight was both refreshing and informative.
One of the moments we value most at these events is showing live demos. It’s when people see exactly how a unified platform like Proqio can streamline tunnel monitoring, combining data from geotechnical sensors, TBM performance, and environmental readings into a single, real-time dashboard.
We also had promising conversations with asset owners, construction firms, and sensor manufacturers, many of whom were curious about how Proqio could support their next tunnel project. Our message was simple: if it generates data, Proqio can turn it into value.
We also had promising conversations with partners and collaborators, including asset owners, construction firms and sensor manufacturers. Many were interested in how their projects could be managed using Proqio. The message we shared was simple: if it produces data, Proqio can turn it into value.

RETC 2025 – Dallas
Just a few weeks later, we joined RETC 2025 in Dallas, North America’s premier tunneling event, with 1,400 attendees and close to 200 exhibitors.
One recurring theme was the need to unify excavation and monitoring data. Attendees were especially interested in how Proqio integrates TBM performance with geotechnical, environmental, geospatial, structural, and other critical monitoring data. Real-time integration across these domains is quickly becoming the industry standard, and we were proud to demonstrate it.
RETC also gave us the chance to reconnect with existing clients. Hearing how Proqio is supporting their current tunneling projects and watching them bring colleagues over to see the platform in action, was a highlight. We also met new stakeholders, including sensor partners interested in integrating their systems into our platform.
From formal presentations to informal chats, there was a clear interest in making tunneling smarter through better use of data. We also took time to attend talks on major ongoing projects, which served as powerful reminders of how important real-time insight is to underground construction.

Key Takeaways
After two major events on two continents, here’s what we learned:
1. The industry is moving toward unified data platforms
Tunnel teams want to bring together TBM, monitoring, surveying, and other data sources. There’s urgency around eliminating silos, and Proqio’s centralized platform aligns with that need.
2. Integration between excavation and monitoring is essential
Teams want to correlate ground behavior with excavation data in real time to manage risk and improve outcomes.
3. Software should fit real workflows
Attendees appreciated Proqio’s user-friendly dashboards, customizable alerts, and stakeholder-specific reporting. Flexibility is key.
4. Scalability is critical
Whether overseeing one tunnel or an entire network, teams need systems that scale easily. Proqio’s multi-project setup and modular design made a strong impression.
5. Proqio is aligned with the industry's future
With real-time dashboards, smart alerts, 3D visualization, and AI-powered analytics, Proqio is ready to support the shift toward integrated, digital tunnel monitoring.
What’s Next for Proqio
The tunneling sector is moving fast, and so are we. Based on the feedback and conversations at WTC 2025 and RETC 2025, we’re focused on expanding integrations (TBMs, Digital Twin, ML Predictive Modelling...) strengthening our data analysis capabilities and further developing the user experience to meet the needs of complex infrastructure projects.
We’re already implementing new ideas from both events into our roadmap. Our goal is to return to WTC 2026 and RETC 2027 with even more impact, smarter features, and more success stories to share.
